First Q&A

A few days ago, I asked my followers on Instagram and friends on Snapchat to send me a few interesting questions because I wanted to answer them here. If I’m being honest, I thought they’d mainly be questions about myself but most are questions about life. I hope no one gets offended by my answers because these are my brutally honest answers.

  1. What do you have to say about cheating and second chances?

Cheating is wrong, period. Be it emotional, physical, or whatever other type of cheating there is, it’s all wrong. This sounds cliché, but no one deserves going to bed at night thinking they aren’t/weren’t enough. Cheating does more damage than breaking a relationship; it makes you lose trust, and be skeptical of everyone around you. I do, however, believe that some people deserve a second chance. Nothing is ever as black and white as it seems, and everything is so situational, so I can’t generalize and say that every ‘cheater’ deserves a second chance, nor can I say that ‘cheaters’ don’t deserve a second chance.

  1. Why is it so hard to let go of toxic people?

Personally, it isn’t. If someone isn’t adding any value to your life, cut them off, especially hypocrites. I understand why some people find it hard to let go of toxic people, because they are generally people who are seemingly close to you. You become dependent on them so you fail to see the bad in them and if you do, you make excuses for their behavior. You hope that one day they’ll change; one day everything will be different. It’s all in your head, though, and if you talk yourself out of it (if you begin to see how toxic they are) it’ll be easier to let go.

  1. Sex before marriage: are you for it? And if you are, why?

I’m not for it, but I’m not against it either. If it’s consensual and the two individuals are aware of what they are doing and the possible repercussions, then who is anyone to stop them? You do you.

  1. Having best friends of a different sex: is it always a good thing? Are you for it?

I don’t think the sex of your best friend matters. It’s more to do with the value of the friendship as well as how strong your bond is. The only down-side about having a best friend of a different sex would be the issue of relatability; some problems are best understood by your own.

  1. What’s the difference between a girl saying she only dates tall guys and a guy saying he only dates light skinned girls?

I don’t think there’s a difference at surface level; it’s merely just preference. How I see it, though, is that when a guy says he only dates light skinned girls, it comes with him saying something negative about girls with darker skin and the idea that light skinned girls are more attractive/more superior than dark skinned girls. Also, being dark skinned, I’ve grown up with people always favouring lighter skinned girls, and making statements such as ‘the darkest I’d go is so and so’. Therefore, there’s no difference if it’s simply just a preference and who you’re NATURALLY attracted to. The problem comes when it becomes discriminatory and an issue of ‘the lighter you are, the more attractive you are’.

  1. What are your thoughts on suicide? Do you believe that all those who commit suicide are going to hell and do you think it’s a selfish act?

I don’t have a concrete opinion on suicide because it’s a very complex topic. What I will say, however, is that it’s sad that some people have been driven to that point.

  1. What’s your favourite book?

I’m not an avid reader and never have been. I started reading ‘Angels and Demons’ by Dan Brown and although I stopped one-hundred-and-something pages in, it has to be my favourite book so far. I love everything about it: the storyline, the structure, and the attention to detail.

  1. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

The ability to change my hair in two seconds. I’ve spent way too much time on my hair i.e. getting it braided, washing it, straightening it etc. I’m tired of sitting down for 4 hours+ at a time. I just want to be able to snap my fingers and have braids appear on my head.

  1. Favourite outfit ?

I loved this combination! The top is from Select and was a gift from my best friend Tharma. The pants are from Zara. The shoes were blue block heels from Mr. Price but you can’t see them here. I’m not big on jewelry so I didn’t accessorise the outfit.

And finally, 10. Who is the person you have had great times with?

There’s enough people, including those who’ve burnt bridges with me.

Thank you to everyone who asked me questions 🙂
I might do another Q&A some other time, who knows?
